Black & White

I was sent out to take some images in black and white. I decided it would be a good time to revisit the logs i had previously photographed as i wanted to retake as black and white images.

Studio Portraits

My inspiration from this project came from Jane Bown. I decided I wanted to use her style of work, I used film to capture significant amounts of details within my portraits. However as my project was studio portrait i didn't use the natural lighting that Bown would have traditionally used. For some reason when i changed the dpi of the second image down i got this pixel effect, this is not what the original image looks like.

Natural Surroundings

I took these images whilst walking around Solihull College, I was intrigued by the textures and as I enjoy producing close up photography decided to try and capture the natural surroundings. I used a 70-300mm Sigma lens, although it has a macro switch  i couldn't get to grips with this setting. I think these images would look highly effective in black and white. I am therefore going to re-shoot some similar images on film using a macro lens.
